Gingerbread

Hi guys,
Today i thought i would share with you an amazing recipe for gingerbread, since its nearly that time of year again:)

This recipe is great for gingerbread cookies, christmas decorations and gingerbread houses (how to posts coming soon.....)

So you will need:
12oz plain flour
3tsp ground ginger
4 and a 1/2oz butter
6oz dark soft brown sugar
4tbsp golden syrup
1 egg

Method:
Mix together your flour and ginger, add your butter and mix together to form breadcrumbs.

Stir in your sugar.

In a separate bowl mix together your egg and golden syrup and gradually add it to your flour, sugar, butter, ginger mixture until it forms a dough! You may need a touch more flour if its too sticky!

Remove your dough from the bowl and wrap it in cling film and chill it in the refrigerator for 20 mins.

Preheat your oven to gas mark 4 and grease a baking tray (or two).

Remove your dough from the refrigerator and roll it out onto a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick and cut out your desired shapes using a cookie cutter, place the shapes onto your baking tray and bake in the centre of the oven for aprox 12-15 mins or until slightly golden!

Leave to cool and decorate how you wish!:)

This makes perfect gingerbread, stay tuned for how to: gingerbread house, edible decorations and many more! I will be posting a how to blog post on both halloween and christmas gingerbread houses, see pictures below from last year:)

Thanks for reading, please let me know if you try this or have any requests!

Happy baking!
