GUEST POST – Birthday Special – Make up look – by Adel of Palette Pale

GUEST POST – Birthday Special – Make up look – by Adel of Palette Pale

Hey hey hey!

So seeing as it’s about to be our lovely Chelsea’s birthday, I’m going to do a make up look suitable for any birthday celebration, whether it be dinner and drinks, hitting the clubs, or a house party with friends. For me, I put a lot of pressure on my self for my make up to go right on my birthday night, and usually that means I make a complete mess. No doubt my eyeliner will be uneven and wobbly, and my eyes will probably start watering as soon as I come near them with a mascara brush. So (having it just been my birthday a few weeks ago) I figured that I needed to keep it technically simple, but still create a dazzling party look.
Erm, please excuse my terrible drawing! I love a good face chart, but I don’t usually bother including the eyelashes, but I thought I’d try it out for this post to fully complete the loo… and, well… I’m definitely blushing with shame. But hey, you get the idea right? So this face chart is a great birthday celebration look (in my opinion). It’s bold enough to be like, ‘hey guys, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!’. It’s a little attention grabbing without being over the top, and I purposefully tried to keep it simple to do, to try and relieve that pressure of doing your make up absolutely perfect.

Here are the products I used:

Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Crayon in 002 Bulletproof Beige
Fashionista Blush in Flush
L’oreal Paris Le Blush in 365 Nude Brown
Bourjois Intense Eyeshadow in 10 Noir
Etee Lauder Signature Hydra Lustre in Red Berry
Soap and Glory Hocus Focus Illuminator
Rimmel Waterproof Gel Eyeliner
Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof
(I also used the ELF HD Powder to set my base, which I didn’t photograph – D’oh)

FACE
Ok so firstly, the Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation is a foundation I do not use in the day, as I find it too heavy, but it creates a perfect flawless look. I use a palette and mix it with a little of the Soap and Glory Hocus Focus, which creates a lovely glow, and slightly lightens up the heavy feel of the Rich Liquid.  I then set this with the ELF HD Powder.
I then used a little of the Hocus Pocus to highlight tops of the cheekbones.
Now I’m very pale! So bronzer just does not work for me, but I do own a million shades of blusher. I use the L’oreal blusher to contour my cheekbones, creating a dark shade underneath, to contrast against the highlighter. The nude brown is the perfect shade for me to do this, on most people, it would probably be too light, but I’ve tried this with so many blushers and contour palettes, and I’ve found this one to work best for my skin tone.
I then use the Fashionista blush on the apples of my cheeks.

EYES
And I love black and gold clothes and accessories for any event, it’s always a winner and I always feel great, and the same goes for the eyes. I love to use a lot of black for a night out, and I feel the eye look I’ve created here isn’t too fussy or hard to do. I basically used the Rimmel Scandaleyes on an above the crease and blend out to the brow bone. Below the crease, I used the Bourjois Intense shadow, and literally just filled in the lid. I used little product, so as not to create too dark of a look. I also smudged it lightly just under the eye to create a smokey look. The eyeliner is the bit that is always bound to go wrong for me when there’s pressure for it to go right (and it always goes right when it doesn’t particularly matter). So I kept it simple with a thin line, just to create a nice outline for the lashes, and taking it on the bottom outer corner also highlights the V of your eye without fiddling about trying to get the perfect flick and matching it on both eyes.

LIPS
For an event or celebration, I always choose a red lip. It’s just a great way to make a statement and set you apart from your average daytime look.  I wanted to use a deeper red, rather than something too bright. I am a fan of brighter reds, as I feel they can compliment and brighten pale skin tones. But I felt like this would have looked to excessive with the eye make up. I love Estee Lauder’s Hydra Lustre as it find it to be non-drying and I really love the shade of this one. It’s one of my favourite red lip sticks at the minute, it just goes with any look, it’s a really universal shade and it’s my go to red at the moment, when I’m not wanting anything too bold.  I always use a lip brush.

Slip on your LBD and a couple of gold tone accessories and you’re good to go!

A massive thank you to Chelsea for letting me guest post. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!!!

Happy new year & lush haul

Hey beauties,
Firstly Happy New year to you all, I hope that all your dreams come true! So as promised my blog will regain more beauty content....after all the purpose of this blog is for it to be filled with my two passions in life beauty and baking! Ive slacked a bit on the beauty content, but all those cosy winter days and nights we've had, the only place for me was the kitchen!

Lets talk aims....this year i aim to put up at least one beauty and one baking blog per week.....starting now and kicking off the new year with a lush haul!

Let me first begin by admitting my obsession with lush....and quite frankly all things to do with baths! I am very much a bath person, i love all things like bath bombs, bubble bars, bath oils, need i go on? I crave that spa feeling, lush provides that, not only do their products leave a silk like feel to your bath water but the smell, the colours, everything about lush products give that luxourious feeling without the price tag....so along with all the lovely bath products i got for Christmas i decided to complement them with a good few bath bombs/bubble bars and so headed to lush, this is what i got.....

Firstly Cinders...this is filled with orange, cinnamon and almond oil and smells delicious, to put into words if Christmas had a scent this would be it! It has popping candy at the top of it, which when you pop it in the bath makes it sound like a crackling fire! This is the cosiest, warming bath bomb out there in my opinion! It is only available at Christmas so i had to grab one before the feative season ended!

This is sex bomb and one of my favourites, it has a strong floral smell to it, it contains ylang ylang, musk and jasmine! It leaves your bath water a lovely soft pink colour and the little rose on the top opens up and floats around you bath! Its a really nice girly bath bomb!

The next one i got is a bubble bar, this is candy mountain and you crumble it under your running tap and it gives lovely soft, fluffy bubbles. This is a very sweet scent, its main ingrediant is vanilla and it has a coating of lustre dust, leaving a nice sparkle to your skin! Again this is only available at Christmas and is part of the snow fairy line.

Next one is bombbardino, this isn't something i would usually go for but it has been recommended so many times so i had to see what the fuss was about.
This is filled with cardamon oil, citrus and cocoa butter! This is definately worth the hype, its so creamy and leaves your skin feeling and smelling amazing!

Next bath bomb i got is think pink, this is so lovely, it contains Tonka and vanilla so another sweet scent, it leaves your bath a lovely pink colour and has a surprise centre of heart shape confetti which float around your bath.

Last thing i got was a soap, this is snowcake and is scented with rose and marzipan, i love this its so creamy and leaves the skin feeling supersoft.

So that is it, hope you all enjoyed reading this blog post! What are your favourite lush products?
