GUEST POST – Birthday Special – Make up look – by Adel of Palette Pale

GUEST POST – Birthday Special – Make up look – by Adel of Palette Pale

Hey hey hey!

So seeing as it’s about to be our lovely Chelsea’s birthday, I’m going to do a make up look suitable for any birthday celebration, whether it be dinner and drinks, hitting the clubs, or a house party with friends. For me, I put a lot of pressure on my self for my make up to go right on my birthday night, and usually that means I make a complete mess. No doubt my eyeliner will be uneven and wobbly, and my eyes will probably start watering as soon as I come near them with a mascara brush. So (having it just been my birthday a few weeks ago) I figured that I needed to keep it technically simple, but still create a dazzling party look.
Erm, please excuse my terrible drawing! I love a good face chart, but I don’t usually bother including the eyelashes, but I thought I’d try it out for this post to fully complete the loo… and, well… I’m definitely blushing with shame. But hey, you get the idea right? So this face chart is a great birthday celebration look (in my opinion). It’s bold enough to be like, ‘hey guys, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!’. It’s a little attention grabbing without being over the top, and I purposefully tried to keep it simple to do, to try and relieve that pressure of doing your make up absolutely perfect.

Here are the products I used:

Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Crayon in 002 Bulletproof Beige
Fashionista Blush in Flush
L’oreal Paris Le Blush in 365 Nude Brown
Bourjois Intense Eyeshadow in 10 Noir
Etee Lauder Signature Hydra Lustre in Red Berry
Soap and Glory Hocus Focus Illuminator
Rimmel Waterproof Gel Eyeliner
Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof
(I also used the ELF HD Powder to set my base, which I didn’t photograph – D’oh)

FACE
Ok so firstly, the Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation is a foundation I do not use in the day, as I find it too heavy, but it creates a perfect flawless look. I use a palette and mix it with a little of the Soap and Glory Hocus Focus, which creates a lovely glow, and slightly lightens up the heavy feel of the Rich Liquid.  I then set this with the ELF HD Powder.
I then used a little of the Hocus Pocus to highlight tops of the cheekbones.
Now I’m very pale! So bronzer just does not work for me, but I do own a million shades of blusher. I use the L’oreal blusher to contour my cheekbones, creating a dark shade underneath, to contrast against the highlighter. The nude brown is the perfect shade for me to do this, on most people, it would probably be too light, but I’ve tried this with so many blushers and contour palettes, and I’ve found this one to work best for my skin tone.
I then use the Fashionista blush on the apples of my cheeks.

EYES
And I love black and gold clothes and accessories for any event, it’s always a winner and I always feel great, and the same goes for the eyes. I love to use a lot of black for a night out, and I feel the eye look I’ve created here isn’t too fussy or hard to do. I basically used the Rimmel Scandaleyes on an above the crease and blend out to the brow bone. Below the crease, I used the Bourjois Intense shadow, and literally just filled in the lid. I used little product, so as not to create too dark of a look. I also smudged it lightly just under the eye to create a smokey look. The eyeliner is the bit that is always bound to go wrong for me when there’s pressure for it to go right (and it always goes right when it doesn’t particularly matter). So I kept it simple with a thin line, just to create a nice outline for the lashes, and taking it on the bottom outer corner also highlights the V of your eye without fiddling about trying to get the perfect flick and matching it on both eyes.

LIPS
For an event or celebration, I always choose a red lip. It’s just a great way to make a statement and set you apart from your average daytime look.  I wanted to use a deeper red, rather than something too bright. I am a fan of brighter reds, as I feel they can compliment and brighten pale skin tones. But I felt like this would have looked to excessive with the eye make up. I love Estee Lauder’s Hydra Lustre as it find it to be non-drying and I really love the shade of this one. It’s one of my favourite red lip sticks at the minute, it just goes with any look, it’s a really universal shade and it’s my go to red at the moment, when I’m not wanting anything too bold.  I always use a lip brush.

Slip on your LBD and a couple of gold tone accessories and you’re good to go!

A massive thank you to Chelsea for letting me guest post. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!!!
